Simon serves as the Assistant Director of Marketing at the Department of Tourism, Marketing, and Community Conservancies for the Samburu County Government in Kenya. His work focuses on promoting ecotourism and strengthening local conservancies to preserve Kenya’s iconic wildlife and natural landscapes. This scholarship will support his Master’s degree in Conservation Science at the University of Kent, where he will investigate the effects of indigenous community leaders in Grevy’s zebra conservation, focusing on the effectiveness of different leadership models. Simon’s vision is to champion community-led conservation strategies in Samburu County, bridging traditional wisdom with modern conservation methods to secure sustainable futures for wildlife and communities alike.

He was nominated by Belinda Low Mackey, Co-Founder and Strategic Advisor at Grevy’s Zebra Trust, and WCN Partner.
