Md Ashik Jahan Galib is a former Research Coordinator with the Wildlife Conservation Society Bangladesh Marine Conservation Program, currently pursuing a master’s degree in Coastal Science and Policy at the University of California, Santa Cruz. His research aims to address the issues threatening the viability of Bangladesh’s Marine Protected Area network by combining marine conservation planning, protected-area governance, fisheries management, and conservation finance to strengthen their effectiveness and long-term sustainability to better protect globally significant species, such as the Irrawaddy dolphin, largetooth sawfish, and Ganges shark. 

He was nominated by Dr. Naomi Doak, Regional Coordinator for Counter Wildlife Trafficking at the Wildlife Conservation Society.
