Ernest served as a Community Liaison Officer with the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Uganda Country Program. He is pursuing a Master of Science in Environment and Natural Resources Management at Makerere University, focusing on evaluating the effectiveness of electric and beehive fencing in mitigating human-elephant conflict around Murchison Falls Protected Area. His study evaluates the effectiveness of electric and beehive fencing as community-led mitigation strategies, while also examining the social and economic factors that influence their long-term sustainability. By generating evidence-based recommendations, Ernest’s work aims to support protected area managers, local governments, and communities in developing conflict mitigation approaches that are both socially acceptable and ecologically sustainable.

He was nominated by Dr. Simon Takozekibi Nampindo, WCS Country Director in Uganda.

Awarded the WCN Standard Scholarship.
