Kyaw Zayar Moe is a representative for the Fishing Cat Conservation Project in Myanmar, which is a partner of the Fishing Cat Conservation Alliance. He is pursuing a master’s degree in natural resource management at the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand. His thesis seeks to address the threats to the fishing cat in Myanmar’s mangrove ecosystems by assessing population trends and ecological pressures and evaluating the effectiveness of community-based interventions such as sustainable livelihood development and local ecological monitoring programs to reduce those pressures. He aims to develop context-specific and culturally appropriate conservation frameworks that protect biodiversity and the well-being of coastal communities in Myanmar.
He was nominated by Dr. Jim Sanderson, Founder & Director of the Small Wild Cat Conservation Foundation, a WCN partner.
