Shivan is a Ugandan conservation researcher pursuing a PhD in Environmental Conservation at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her research focuses on the spatiotemporal distribution and population dynamics of lions within the transboundary Greater Virunga Landscape, examining how land use, habitat connectivity, and climate change impact their populations. Shivan aims to become a leading voice in conservation planning and policy development in Africa, building critical networks and partnerships to safeguard biodiversity for future generations.
She was nominated by Dr. Simon Takozekibi Nampindo, Uganda Country Program Director at WCS.
