Ruei is a South Sudanese conservation trailblazer and the Executive Director of the Agency for Conservation and Development (ACD), a youth-led organization dedicated to environmental awareness in South Sudan. His scholarship supports his Master’s studies at the African Leadership University in Rwanda, where his research aims to bridge indigenous knowledge with modern conservation strategies to create a lasting, community-driven impact. Ruei’s long-term vision is to expand ACD’s work by establishing a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center, a conservation education hub, and community-led wildlife tourism projects that empower local communities to protect their natural heritage.
He was nominated by Adrian Garside, Wildlife Conservation Consultant at the Elephant Crisis Fund, a WCN Wildlife Fund.
Awarded a Standard Conservation Scholarship.
