Gbenou is a Cameroonian conservation biologist committed to advancing the use of innovative technologies for wildlife protection. As the Program Manager at Biodiversité-Environnement Développement Durable (BEDD), he coordinates conservation projects for the West and Central African lion populations in the Benoue Complex and the Kordofan giraffe in Bouba Ndjidda National Park. His scholarship supports a two-year Applied Training at Cornell University’s Lab of Ornithology, where he is mastering bioacoustic monitoring techniques to track lion populations, monitor their health, and prevent human-lion conflict. Gbenou’s long-term vision is to lead impactful conservation projects across Central Africa, using cutting-edge technologies such as bioacoustics, satellite tracking, and camera trapping to protect critically endangered species.
