Htet Lin Kyaw is pursuing a master’s degree in conservation ecology at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Thailand. His planned dissertation aims to explore factors influencing the breeding success of sarus cranes, one of Myanmar’s most threatened wetland birds, examining how land use and human disturbance influence nesting outcomes inside and outside community conservation areas. This work will strengthen community-based conservation in human-dominated landscapes in Myanmar and promote human-wildlife coexistence, with a focus on wetland and grassland birds. He previously served as a Research Officer for the Myanmar Biodiversity Fund and Field Assistant for Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) Myanmar, focusing on bird conservation.

He was nominated by Colin Poole, Regional Director for Greater Mekong at the Wildlife Conservation Society.
