Fariha Iqbal is the Bangladesh Country Coordinator for the East Asian- Australasian Flyway Partnership (EAAFP) Youth Task Force and a Project Management Team Member of the IUCN SSC Young Professionals Group.

She plans to pursue a master’s degree in Biodiversity, Conservation and Nature Recovery at Oxford University to explore how climate-driven alterations in the riverine systems in western Bangladesh impact the habitats of threatened migratory birds, particularly the yellow-breasted bunting, common pochard, and black-tailed godwit, and how local communities perceive, experience, and respond to these changes. This research will advance community-based conservation approaches that safeguard migratory birds and strengthen climate resilience in vulnerable ecosystems across Bangladesh.

She was nominated by Dr. Sayam Chowdhury, Rufford grantee and Researcher at the Conservation Research Institute, University of Cambridge.
